BIOGRAPHY
Baillie Whittington is an American transmedia artist whose work ranges from experimental video and animation to sound and projection. Her work draws upon the idea of a “conscious reality”, a concept popularized by Chris Langan. Whittington’s body of work is largely based on the belief that “reality is a conscious being and that is talking to itself”. The goal of her art practice is to reveal the “reality of our reality” through the exploration and manipulation of naturally occurring microcosms and patterns, and to, in turn, imbue empathy to an apathetic society. She distorts and blends footage to create a cacophony of color and shape, highlighting the chaos, but also the undeniable patterns
that our universe invariably follows.
Baillie is an impending graduate of the Kinetic Imaging program at Virginia Commonwealth University. She has received an Award of Excellence from the department of Kinetic Imaging and has presented her work in several group exhibitions, including the Museum of Wild and Newfangled Art's 2021 Biennial. She currently resides in Richmond, VA and is always looking for the next opportunity.
