LIQUID LIGHT (2021)
This installation, presented at the Anderson Gallery at VCU, is an exploration of color and light and the interaction between the two. It is also an exploration of the material known as mylar, and how it can be manipulated to create light reflections as well as reflections of the viewer. The goal of the project was to create an immersive experience that distorts the viewer’s sense of self and the perception of the self.Â
The installation includes two large sheets of reflective mylar facing each other, hung on each side of a small room. A small, oscillating fan is placed between the sheets, creating wavelike motions in the material. A set of speakers is placed at the back of the room playing a looping, ambient audio track. All visuals and audio are created by the artist.
