WEEPING WALL (2021)

The Weeping Wall (2021) was a short-lived installation located at the Jones-Williams House in Richmond, Virginia. The installation consisted of a large projection (approximately 15’x30’) of a dripping, brown liquid onto the western wall of the Jones-Williams House as well as a looping audio track. The audio contained the sound of a cigarette being smoked. The projector was located on the roof of the neighboring building (the Blanchard-White House) and the speaker was placed underneath the porch of the same building. The video ran on a five minute loop, while the audio ran on an eighteen minute loop.

The Jones-Williams house was built in 1890-91 for William Henry Jones, a tobacco merchant. Jones sold the house in 1899 to AD Williams, the son of TC Williams, owner of TC Williams Tobacco, a largely successful tobacco company located in Richmond.
